As a young girl I often spent time with friends playing classic card games like Tressette and Briscola. Then I discovered the Buraco. For several years now I have been playing it more or less frequently and I have made a good round of friends to play with often and willingly. The other night I was trying to teach my husband the game and from there the idea was born to share my pastime also in the blog trying to explain how to play Buraco as simply and understandably as possible. Then who knows, maybe I want you so much that at the next online game I will find you at the table with me.

How to play Buraco explained step by step.

Preparation of the cards

Buraco is played with two decks of French cards from 52 plus the four wild cards. There are faces in pairs of two, but you can also play against each other individually or in three.
After shuffling the deck the player to the right of the dealer up. From the top up and taking the papers from beneath creates two bundles of 11 cards. These two bunches are called “wells” or “pit“. They are positioned on a side of the table one on top of each other forming a +. The second well goes over to the one formed by the first card from which it started to form the two wells. The remaining cards will be placed on the table.
Simultaneously, the dealer deals clockwise, one by one 11 cards to all players. Place the remainder of the deck on the table and turn a card that will put to the side.

The basic rules to start playing

The turn of the first player is fishing establishes a card from the deck. Who draws the highest card will play first and the dealer will be the player to his right.
When it’s our turn you can choose to draw a card from the deck placed on the table called “heel” or take from the discard pile. When you take the waste to be taken all.
In the Buraco to open a game and drop something you need to do a set. It can be a scale or with three identical cards.
Example: 3, 4 and 5 of hearts or three K, two of which also of the same suit.
When you play in pairs we can attack our cards to open games from our partner.
The turn always ends with a gap. One exception for those rare cases where, for example we have in hand two cards before going to the well, we fish the third one that allows us to form a set or attack them all three to an already open in this game and “fly” so to pit being able to play right away.
Important help are the Jolly and pinelle. The pinella is the second of every seed that can be used as wild card.

Purpose of the game

The aim is to get to take the cockpit, do Buraco and close the game. You can not close without arriving in the well and have made at least one Buraco.
Buraco is obtained by forming a row of seven scale cards of the same suit or seven equal cards.
Example: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 of flowers or 3 of Spades, 3 flowers, 3 of diamonds, 3 of hearts, three of flowers, 3 of spades and 3 hearts.
You can obtain three different types of Buraco:

  1. Clean: When does not contain any wildcards or pinella excluding 2 used that value.
  2. Half-Clean: When it contains a Joker or pinella but this does not stop a sequence of seven cards inside.
  3. Dirty: When it contains a Joker or pinella than the 2 natural.

Buraco is reported recline the seventh horizontal card on line six previously created.
Every game opened can contain only one Joker or pinella exception of two used as such.
You can not close the game by discarding a joker or pinella.

Buraco tips

In time, each of us develops his own technique, his own way of playing that distinguishes both for good and for bad. In fact as far as I’m concerned I found that not all teams can do. And ”matter of feeling” like the one said.
I do not ever open the game with a trio of 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. They risk to block the stairs which I think are always the easiest route for a Buraco. Look at most a few laps to understand the games is my companion of my opponents before making this decision. 5 If I have in hand the question changes.
When I use a pinella try, where possible, to put the same suit in a scale so that maybe during the game may slip to 2 and make a pure Buraco.
I pay attention to waste and who collects it. Sometimes a good memory saved my black matches.
Finally, remember that if you play in pairs played in two and keep everything in hand does not make much sense. You have to help each other to drop as soon as possible and attack without losing possible good cards.
